Rob Bell is getting a TV Show

I appreciate Tony Jones’ thoughts:

Excerpt of Tony quoting Danielle Shroyer here:

If Oprah calls you up and invites you to share your thoughts on your faith, what kind of a moron would you have to be to say no? Would evangelicals really rather someone NOT be talking about God? Is it really that dire? Is Rob Bell so bad, so different from you, that silence is the better option? Because that’s what evangelicals currently have with broader culture: silence. Crickets. The vast majority of America has tuned them out. What kind of special prize do evangelicals think they are getting by not connecting with the very people they say they want to reach?

I just think of Paul’s words here from Philippians 1:18

But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached.

I wish I could watch it – maybe I’ll be able to find it online. My thought on some of the Rob Bell controversies is that even if you disagree with someone’s views, just by him bringing them up, it causes all of us to think theologically about our views – thus making us the better for it – “as iron sharpens iron…” And even if you disagree with him, he’s still pointing to Jesus. What can be so wrong with that?

I think of Rob Bell as a brother in Christ, so when I hear almost vitriolic level criticism of him, I take it personal – you’re talking about my brother. Can’t we lift each other up instead of tearing each other down? Just my two cents.

I love Rob Bell books and the Nooma videos. I also appreciate Tony Jones. Have you seen or read the book & video by Tony Jones on the Didache? What do you think?

I have read a couple of Tony Jones’ books and have been to one of his seminars once. But haven’t heard or read anything from him on the Didache. What does he say on it? Is the video available somewhere online?
